Many of our clients are working to end discrimination and promote social justice, and we are proud and delighted to work with all of them. We thought some of our readers would be particularly interested in the Democracy Frontlines Fund (“DFF”), which launched on September 10, 2020. DFF brings together several funders, each of whom has committed $1 million per year for three years. The total fund of $36 million will be divided evenly between ten recipients.
Organized by The Libra Foundation, DFF brought together a team of leaders with decades of experience as activists and movement funders to help identify grantees. In DFF’s words, it “operates from the core belief that Black organizers uniquely understand the pain in their communities and how to address it.” DFF believes that “now is the time to listen to the will and self-determined priorities of Black communities, support them, and get out of the way. Democracy Frontlines Fund is an invitation for philanthropy to expand its grant making approach in partnership.”
