Stephanie L. Petit

Areas of Practice

Ms. Petit focuses on the representation of nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations and their donors, with an emphasis on corporate governance matters, international grantmaking, company and private foundations, and religious organizations.

Prior Experience

Before joining Adler & Colvin, Ms. Petit practiced general business law. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sidney R. Thomas of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Professional Affiliations

Ms. Petit is a member of the American Bar Association, Tax Section and The Bar Association of San Francisco. She is a former member of the Nonprofit and Unincorporated Organizations Subcommittee of the Business Law Section of The California State Bar.

Selected Publications

Speaking and Teaching

Ms. Petit served as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco's Institute for Nonprofit Management. She has spoken or guest lectured at various law schools and conferences, including Golden Gate University, Boalt Hall School of Law and the Grant Managers Network and Council on Foundations national conferences.
