Areas of Practice

Ms. Petit focuses on the representation of nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations and their donors, with an emphasis on corporate governance matters, international grantmaking, company and private foundations, and religious organizations.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining Adler & Colvin, Ms. Petit practiced general business law. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sidney R. Thomas of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Professional Affiliations

Ms. Petit is a member of the American Bar Association, Tax Section and The Bar Association of San Francisco. She is a former member of the Nonprofit and Unincorporated Organizations Subcommittee of the Business Law Section of The California State Bar.

Publications

Speaking and Teaching

Ms. Petit served as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco's Institute for Nonprofit Management. She regularly teaches continuing education classes on nonprofit law, and in this capacity has spoken at Boalt Hall School of Law, the Barristers' Club of San Francisco, and the Grant Managers Network national conference.
